‘I call it constructive disruption. When you have people so used to spreadsheets and a certain logic, you can try to talk to that logic, but you’re going to stay very much in a certain swim lane.

You’ve got to disrupt them away, which involves challenging and being disruptive.

You’ve got to take them out of a position where they’re hiding in plain sight to say: Look, there’s a secular trend where there is a tension on us.

‘You are not going to get a step change in the way an organisation communicates unless you can somehow get that sense of disruption through, particularly at Board level.’
